Emphasize diversity
Encompass and enhance the diversity of the sciences and enhance audience engagement through motion graphics to match the style of the Waimea Solar System Walk.
Everything is connected
Used a storyline to create motion graphics that sparks adventure in the opening and aid comprehension of the concepts in the videos. Also, upholding the design system and logo concept for the Waimea Solar System Walk created continuity for both series.
The Science Walk and the Waimea Solar System Walk are parts of a Youtube two-part video series created by the Canada-France-Hawai‘i Telescope. This series aims to educate viewers on the different aspects of our world and the universe by hosting a collection of videos from different organizations that talk about their respective topic. The Science Walk, in particular, focuses on Earth sciences and conservation.
In order to adjust to COVID-19 regulations, the walk consists of a physical outdoor path in Waimea, Hawai‘i, hosted by the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope. On the path, attendees can view the educational videos, via QR code.
I created all of the intro and outro along with the motion graphics in the videos titled: Volcanos, Our Atmosphere, Our Sun, Astrobiology, and JWST.
*The motion graphics in the videos titled: Humpback Whales, Native Birds, and The ‘Alala Project were created by their respective organizations.

logo Design
In order to maintain the integrity of the set, creating a clear visual connection between both series was my top priority. Therefore, keeping the Waimea Solar System Walk’s logo theme, “opening new doorways'' was essential in maintaining the continuity between both designs. This was achieved by implementing the same doorframe and walkway.
In order to portray the wide-range of Earth science topics, illustrating the land, sea, and space aided in individualizing this logo.
Artwork
The goal, especially within the opening graphics, is to unite the various topics cohesively through the storyline. To accomplish this, I created mini-animations that represent each respective topic. This resulted in an adventure through the ocean, land, and into space.
